Government in Lebanon resigns amidst widespread protests after massive explosion
Sequel to the series of protest after a recent explosion that caused the death of well over 200 citizens, the government in Lebanon has resigned.
Prime Minister Hassan Diab announced the resignation of the government in a TV broadcast.
The government had been accused of storing well over 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate, which was alleged to have caused the explosion.
The situation in Lebanon has been tense since the explosion and this is amidst worsening economic situations.
The visibly angry citizens had blamed the government for storing such large amount of ammonium nitrate in a residential area.
The ammonium nitrate is believed to be used for fertiliser as well as for bomb making.
The government has admitted it’s faults and has since resigned.
