Gov. Soludo Seals Peter Obi’s Campaign Office, Edozie Njoku-Led APGA State Office

Prof. Chukwuma Soludo led Anambra State government, on Tuesday, sealed two popular buildings in Awka, escalating tensions in the state’s political landscape. The affected properties include the state office of the Edozie Njoku-led All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the former campaign office of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi.

The sealing operation, which took place at the Udoka Housing Estate, involved a significant security presence, with soldiers and police officers accompanying government officials. The action caused a stir in the area, with many expressing surprise at the sudden closure.

Mr. Tony Uche Ezekwelu, the South East National Vice Chairman of APGA, expressed disappointment over the government’s decision. He suggested that the move might be politically motivated, given APGA’s growing influence under Edozie Njoku’s leadership. Ezekwelu noted that the office had been operational for just two months and was actively involved in preparations for the upcoming local government elections.

Ezekwelu criticized the lack of prior notice before the sealing, emphasizing that the area has long been used for political activities without issue. “This office previously served as the campaign headquarters for Peter Obi during his presidential bid, and other political figures have used the space without interference,” he remarked.

Despite the concerns raised by APGA, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, in a broadcast marking the creation of Anambra State, assured that the internal issues within APGA would soon be resolved. The state government has cited zoning regulations as the reason for the closure, stating that the area was designated for residential purposes, not commercial or political use.
