Gov. Mbah Reacts to Appeal Court Victory

Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, expressed profound trust in the judiciary as he hailed the Court of Appeal’s judgment on Friday, solidifying his victory. The ruling not only reinforced his personal success but also underscored a significant stride for democracy.

In a statement at the Government House in Enugu, Governor Mbah highlighted the broader implications of the court’s decision, stating it was a win not just for him but for the democratic values that benefit the citizens. He assured an intensified commitment to leveraging this win for the betterment of Enugu State.

Acknowledging the endurance of the people during the period of legal challenges aimed at besmirching the government’s reputation, Governor Mbah extended his gratitude to the public.

The Court of Appeal in Lagos, in its judgment, dismissed the appeal lodged by the Labour Party’s candidate, Chijioke Edeoga, who sought to invalidate Governor Mbah’s election. The dismissal was grounded on the failure of the candidate to substantiate claims related to qualification issues and over-voting. This affirmed the Tribunal’s previous decision in favor of Governor Mbah and the PDP.

In a parallel development, a significant fine of 5 million Naira was imposed on the NYSC for asserting the Governor’s discharge certificate as fake.
