Gov Adeleke Backs Tinubu’s Re-election, Cites South-West Interest
Governor Ademola Adeleke has expressed support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, describing him as a unifying figure for the South-West.
The governor’s position was conveyed in a statement issued Tuesday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, following a meeting with cabinet members, advisers, and senior party officials at the Government House.
Adeleke said his administration has “no problem” with the president and reaffirmed an earlier endorsement of Tinubu’s second-term bid, arguing it aligns with the region’s political and developmental interests.
He also addressed his recent defection to the Accord Party, thanking residents for their support and noting increased grassroots activity. According to him, the party has expanded its reach, with local chapters holding regular events that draw large participation.
On governance, the governor pledged to intensify development efforts if given another mandate. He said his administration would place greater emphasis on youth, women, and workers, while continuing investments in infrastructure, agriculture, education, and healthcare.
