God is Good Motors (GIGM) has confirmed the mass abduction of passengers traveling from Abuja to Port Harcourt, which occurred on Friday, October 11. The incident has drawn significant concern from the families of those kidnapped, as well as the general public.
In a statement released at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, GIGM expressed deep sympathy for the families affected by the incident. “We write with deep concern and compassion to the families, loved ones of our guests, and the general public regarding the unfortunate kidnapping incident involving our bus en route from Utako to Port Harcourt,” the company stated.
According to accounts provided by the driver, all passengers were taken hostage, except for a nursing mother whose baby was reportedly wailing continuously during the incident. GIGM clarified that both the driver and the woman with the baby were released by the kidnappers.
“Upon release, he immediately reported the incident to the anti-kidnapping unit in Port Harcourt at around 11:30 p.m. yesterday, accompanied by the same woman,” the statement detailed. The driver has since been cooperating with law enforcement agencies in their investigation.
GIGM has committed to working closely with law enforcement and ensuring the safe return of all passengers. “We are dedicated to ensuring every passenger returns home where they belong,” the company affirmed in their statement.
