Ghana Summons Russian Ambassador Over Viral Nude Video Scandal
The Ghanaian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has formally summoned Russian Ambassador Sergei Berdnikov following the circulation of explicit videos allegedly involving Ghanaian women.
The government’s action aims to express its concern and seek cooperation from Russian authorities in identifying the person responsible for the leaks. Social media has been abuzz since earlier this month when videos linked to a man identified online as “Yaytseslav” began circulating.
International reports suggest the individual may be a Russian blogger who records intimate encounters without consent and distributes them online. Several alleged victims have reportedly filed complaints. However, Ghanaian officials emphasize that the suspect’s true identity and nationality remain unverified.
In the diplomatic meeting, Ambassador Berdnikov acknowledged the breach of privacy and dignity but noted that Russia cannot confirm whether the suspect is Russian. Authorities also indicated that the name circulating online might not be genuine, potentially being a vulgar term rather than a real Russian name.
Despite these uncertainties, the Russian Embassy has pledged full cooperation with Ghanaian authorities. The absence of a formal extradition treaty between the two countries adds complexity to the investigation. Reports also suggest the suspect may have already left Ghana, raising questions about the pace and scope of international legal proceedings.
