Ganduje’s Visit: Give Me APC Guber Ticket, and I Will Give You Anambra Government House C of O – Obiora Okonkwo
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdulahi Ganduje, has called on the South-East to align with the ruling party to strengthen its political influence at the national level. Ganduje made this appeal on Saturday in Awka during the inauguration of the newly procured and furnished APC state secretariat, sponsored by governorship aspirants Mr. Paul Chukwuma and Prof. Obiora Okonkwo.
As the Anambra gubernatorial election approaches, several APC aspirants, including Chukwuma, Okonkwo, Nicholas Ukachukwu, Chukwuma Umeoji, and Johnbosco Onunkwo, have vowed to secure victory for the party in the November 8 election if given the ticket.
Addressing party members, Ganduje praised the Igbo as the most nationalistic ethnic group in Nigeria and stressed the importance of political integration with the central government through the APC. He urged the South-East to move beyond its current political isolation, using an analogy of the national power grid.
“We want to connect you to the centre, to the national grid. Right now, politically, you are operating on generators and rural electrification, which is unacceptable,” he said. “You are the most nationalistic people in Nigeria. Everywhere you go, you find the Igbo excelling in different fields. Why then remain politically isolated?”
Ganduje also referenced historical Igbo leaders like Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu and Nnamdi Azikiwe, stressing that APC is committed to ensuring the South-East regains strong political relevance. He assured that President Bola Tinubu remains focused on national unity and ongoing reforms aimed at economic and security improvements.
“Some of the necessary reforms are already taking effect. Oil production is increasing, security is improving, refineries are functioning, and our currency is stabilizing. This is the kind of leadership Tinubu provides—focused on fixing what is broken,” he added.
Meanwhile, the APC governorship aspirants showcased their political strength by mobilizing large crowds of supporters to the event. Among them, Chukwuma and Okonkwo emerged as the most popular choices within the party. Both pledged to deliver victory for the APC if selected as the party’s flagbearer.
Chukwuma declared, “Today marks the beginning of APC’s victory in Anambra. We are here to take Anambra and connect her to the centre. I am confident that I will lead the party to victory.”
Okonkwo, on his part, made a bold declaration of his readiness to win. “I am happy the party in Anambra has changed. I will lead the best and strongest campaign that will produce an APC governor. If you give me the ticket, I will give you the C of O of the Anambra Government House,” he assured.
