‘Ganduje Did Not Resign, He Was Removed’ — NNPP Chairman Dungurawa

The Kano State Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Hashimu Dunguraw, has insisted that former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, did not resign but was removed from his position.

Dungurawa claimed Ganduje was ousted due to corruption allegations linked to candidates ahead of the forthcoming Anambra election, as well as actions perceived as undermining President Tinubu and the APC. According to Dungurawa, Ganduje had been acting against the interests of the party and Tinubu by engaging in premature political activities and sidelining Tinubu’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, in the process of adopting and endorsing Tinubu.

“Politically, we are not happy with his resignation because he was doing what we wanted — weakening the APC from within. Whether you like it or not, Ganduje was Tinubu’s enemy in the party,” Dungurawa said. “He didn’t resign; Tinubu and others knew he was destroying their party, and that’s why they removed him overnight.”

Dungurawa dismissed claims that Ganduje’s removal was connected to Tinubu’s purported plans to work with NNPP leader Rabiu Kwankwaso. He argued the real reason was corruption allegations that some candidates presented to Tinubu, accusing Ganduje of misconduct.

When asked whether Kwankwaso might return to the APC in the wake of Ganduje’s exit, Dungurawa said they would support Kwankwaso in any political direction he chooses. “Wherever Kwankwaso goes, we will follow him. Even if he quits politics, we will still stand with him,” he added.
