G-Wagon Debacle: Portable Released on Bail
Portable, the controversial singer, has been granted bail after his arrest by the Lagos Police for allegedly defaulting on payment for a N27 million G-Wagon. The 30-year-old singer, whose real name is Badmus Okikiola Habeeb, was released on Wednesday night after meeting his bail conditions.
Portable was arrested on Tuesday following a petition from the G-Wagon dealer, claiming that he had only paid N13 million of the agreed N27 million for the vehicle and failed to pay the remaining balance.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesperson in Lagos State, confirmed Portable’s release, stating that he had spent Tuesday night in custody after failing to produce a reliable surety.
The saga unfolded when an agreement between Portable and the dealer surfaced on social media. The agreement outlined a payment plan for a Mercedes Benz GLE 350, with Portable committing to pay the balance of N14 million by February 24th, 2024.
In the agreement, Portable undertook to make payments on specific dates, with the final installment due in February. However, his failure to adhere to the payment schedule led to his arrest.
Portable’s legal team is yet to comment on the matter, but his release on bail marks a temporary resolution to the G-Wagon debacle, pending further legal proceedings.
