(FULL LIST) Major Leadership Shake-Up at NNPCL: President Tinubu Appoints New Board and Management Team

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has greenlit a significant overhaul at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), effective December 1, 2023, appointing a fresh lineup of leaders. The move, in compliance with Section 59 (2) of the Petroleum Industry Act, 2021, is aimed at bolstering efficiency and ushering in a new era of compliance.

The appointed Board members are:

Chief Pius Akinyelure — Non-Executive Board Chairman

Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari — Group Chief Executive Officer

Alhaji Umar Isa Ajiya — Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Ledum Mitee — Non-Executive Director

Mr. Musa Tumsa — Non-Executive Director

Mr. Ghali Muhammad — Non-Executive Director

Prof. Mustapha Aliyu — Non-Executive Director

Mr. David Ogbodo — Non-Executive Director

Ms. Eunice Thomas — Non-Executive Director

President Tinubu has also approved the appointment of two Permanent Secretaries:

Mr. Okokon Ekanem Udo — Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance

Amb. Gabriel Aduda — Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources

In a statement by the President’s spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, the appointments are seen as crucial steps toward achieving the administration’s performance-driven and results-oriented mandate. President Tinubu envisions a proactive energy policy that optimizes existing oil and gas resources while facilitating the exploration of new and cleaner energy sources, entrusted to this distinguished team.
