FULL LIST: Eight Lawmakers Join ADC as 27 Representatives Defect in House Realignment
A new round of defections in the House of Representatives has reshaped party alignments, with 27 lawmakers switching parties during Tuesday’s plenary.
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas announced the changes, which come as political activity intensifies ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) recorded eight new members, drawn from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and the All Progressives Congress (APC). Other parties also gained ground: the Action Peoples Party (APP) received two lawmakers, while the Accord Party added two members from the PDP.
Several of the lawmakers cited internal crises within their former parties as the reason for their defections.

5. Abdussamad Dasuki — PDP to ADC — Kebbe/Tambuwal (Sokoto)
6. Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe — NNPP to APC — Tofa/Dawakin-Tofa/Rimingado (Kano)
7. Seyi Sowunmi — LP to ADC — Ojo (Lagos)
8. Mohammed Bassi — PDP to APC — Mayo Belwa/Ganye/Jada/Toungo (Adamawa)
9. Ghali Tijjani Mustapha — NNPP to APC — Ajingi/Albasu/Gaya (Kano)
10. Shehu Bello — NNPP to APC — Fagge (Kano)
11. Dankawu Idris — NNPP to APC — Kumbotso (Kano)
12. Hussain Hassan Shehu — NNPP to APC — Nassarawa (Kano)
13. Rabiu Yusuf — NNPP to APC — Sumaila/Takai (Kano)

26. Akanni Clement Ademola — PDP to Accord — Boluwaduro/Ifedayo/Ila (Osun)

The defections mark one of the most significant shifts in the current legislative cycle, reflecting growing instability within party structures and early positioning for the next general elections.
