“Fubara Should Remain Steady, Don’t Jump to APC” – Bode George Appeals

A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has appealed to Governor Similaye Fubara of Rivers State not to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Speaking during an interview on Channels TV’s *Politics Today*, George stressed the importance of Fubara remaining loyal to the PDP, assuring that the party has a strong structure capable of resolving its internal issues.

His comments come amid speculation that Fubara is considering a move to the APC, following the recent defection of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. Addressing the situation, George praised Fubara’s calm approach during the ongoing political tension, describing him as someone who has been actively working to ease concerns among the people.

“I will plead with Fubara to remain steady on his course,” George said. “He should stay solid with the fear of God in him because whatever God has decided will eventually come to pass. You don’t need to jump.” He emphasized that the PDP remains organized, highlighting its established national structure, including the national chairman, secretary, organizing committee, and women leader. George added that while some individuals might choose to defect, the party would endure and continue to command loyalty from the people.

Fubara’s position remains uncertain after he was suspended as Rivers State Governor a few weeks ago. The suspension came after President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in the state, citing a prolonged political crisis. Tinubu has since appointed Ibok-Ete Ibas as the new administrator of Rivers State.
