Fubara Orders Dissolution of Rivers State Pensions Board
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has ordered the immediate dissolution of the Rivers State Pensions Board. The announcement was made in a statement released on Friday by the Head of Service, Dr. Inyingi Brown, who explained that the responsibilities of the board will now be taken over by the Office of the Accountant General of the state.
The directive further mandated all former members of the dissolved board to hand over properties and assets belonging to the board to the Director of Administration in the pensions office. Governor Fubara is expected to constitute a new board at a later date to oversee pension matters in the state.
The Rivers State Pensions Board was not among those reconstituted by the interim emergency administration, making its dissolution the first major policy move by Fubara since his return to office after the six-month emergency rule.
