Fubara Never Knelt Before Wike Begging, It’s All Propaganda – Former Rivers Council Boss

The former Chairman of Port Harcourt Local Government Area, Ezebunwo Ichemati, has strongly refuted reports claiming that suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, knelt before his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, to seek forgiveness and political reinstatement.

Ichemati described the allegations as false and part of a deliberate attempt to mislead the public. The reports had suggested that Fubara recently met with Wike in Abuja as part of a broader reconciliation effort aimed at resolving the political crisis in Rivers State. The meeting, according to the claims, was facilitated by two governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a former Southwest governor. It was also alleged that during the meeting, Fubara knelt before Wike to beg for forgiveness and help in securing his reinstatement as governor. Furthermore, it was claimed that Fubara had traveled abroad to meet President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was out of the country at the time.

However, Ichemati categorically denied these reports, describing them as mere propaganda. He emphasized that there was no truth to the claim that Fubara had knelt or begged anyone to regain his political position. “Someone who did not lie down on the ground to beg or lobby to become governor, cannot also do the same to remain as one,” Ichemati said.

He pointed out that genuine reconciliation involves open dialogue and compromise from all parties, not subservience or begging. “In war, no one party takes all the blame, so needless is the propaganda of a particular group begging,” he stated, urging the public to ignore such misleading claims.

Ichemati further asserted that Fubara remains committed to the peace and development of Rivers State, stressing that he would not resort to such gestures. “Governor Siminalayi Fubara is in very high spirits and passionately committed to the peaceful development of Rivers State, one he’ll not do with his knees on the ground, no matter how humble you think he is,” he concluded.
