From Senior to Junior Minister: Doris Uzoka-Anite Moved to Third Ministry in Three Years
Doris Uzoka-Anite has been reassigned for the third time in three years by President Bola Tinubu, marking another shift in her role within the federal cabinet.
Since her initial appointment in August 2023, Uzoka-Anite’s portfolio has changed repeatedly, with each move placing her in a different ministry and, more recently, in a junior capacity.
She first joined the cabinet as Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment. Fourteen months later, in October 2024, she was replaced in that position by Jumoke Oduwole.
Following that change, Uzoka-Anite was redeployed to the Ministry of Finance as Minister of State for Finance, working under Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy. At the time, Edun described her appointment as supportive of ongoing economic reforms.
After one year and four months in that role, she has now been reassigned to the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning as Minister of State, where she will serve under Atiku Bagudu.
Before joining the federal cabinet, Uzoka-Anite served as Commissioner for Finance and Coordinating Economy in Imo State for two and a half years.
A graduate of the University of Benin, she transitioned to public service after 19 years in the private sector. Her early career included a brief stint as a medical officer at Providence Hospital between June and October 2002. She later joined Zenith Bank as an assistant banking officer and rose to the position of Group Head, Treasury, a role she held until March 2021.
