Four Kano House of Reps Members Defect from NNPP to ADC

Four members of the House of Representatives from Kano State have left the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The lawmakers are Sani Wakili (Minjibir/Ungogo), Muktar Zakari (Tarauni), Umar Datti (Kura/Madobi/Garun Mallam), and Abdulhakeem Ado (Wudil/Garko).

Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, announced their defection during plenary on Wednesday.

In a separate development, Kabiru Amadu, representing Gusau/Tsafe in Zamfara State, and Emeka Chinedu, representing Ahiazu Mbaise/Ezinihitte in Imo State, also switched parties. Both lawmakers moved from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Those who changed parties cited internal disputes within their former platforms as the reason for their decisions.

The ADC has recorded several defections in recent weeks as political alignments begin to shift ahead of the 2027 general elections. Earlier, Thaddeus Attah (Eti-Osa, Lagos), Usman Zubairu (Birnin Gwari/Giwa, Kaduna), and Sani Noma (Argungu/Augie, Kebbi) left the Labour Party (LP) and the APC to join the ADC.
