Former Catholic Nun Secretly Marries Ex-Seminarian After Falling in Love While Praying Together
A former Catholic nun and a seminarian who fell in love while praying together have revealed they secretly married earlier this year.
Brazilian influencer and former nun Lais Dognini confirmed on Instagram on October 7 that she had married Jackson Dognini, a former seminarian, in a private ceremony held in March. The couple met more than six years ago while serving in the Catholic Church but had little interaction at the time.
According to Brazilian outlet *O Globo*, their connection began when Jackson reached out to offer prayers for Lais during her struggle with depression after she left her Carmelite convent. Lais had spent two years in the convent dedicated to prayer and service, while Jackson was in his fifth year of seminary training for the priesthood.
Jackson initially believed Lais would one day return to religious life, but as they continued to exchange messages, their friendship deepened and gradually turned into love. After much reflection, Jackson decided to leave the seminary to pursue a different path in life.
The couple began dating in April 2024, became engaged in October, and married in March of this year. Their relationship remained private until Lais shared the news publicly through her Instagram Stories, expressing joy and confidence in their decision.
“It doesn’t seem like much, right? But let’s face it, we’re adults now and we know what we want in life,” Lais wrote, sharing her happiness with her followers for the first time.
