Former Anambra Governor, Ezeife Urges South East Governors To Reject Almajiris, Says They are Security Risk to Region

Former Governor of Anambra State, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife, has said the recent influx of Almajiris into the South East poses a huge danger to the region.

Ezeife who expressed concerns on the development on Saturday called on South East Governors to reject the Almajiris as their presence is unacceptable.

“I am worried about this development and this is totally unacceptable to us in Igboland and their presence in the South East portends danger.

“These are young men who are not married and have no visible means of livelihood and with such idle men, it is a security risk for us in the South East.

“These are the same people that are always used by their former benefactors to attack the Igbo people and their business in the North because they depend on them for sustenance and with such unemployed men coming down to the South East, it is a potential danger for us here” he said.

“Yes the Bible said love your neighbour as you love yourself and because of that, we pity the Almajiris over their condition but they should help themselves with something meaningful, but their presence in the South East is totally unacceptable to us here in the South East.

“Our governors should be mindful of the grave consequences of allowing these people to come to the South East because we have no business with them and we do not share anything with them.

“Very soon, they will begin to lay claim to our land and our properties and this is the monster that the Northern leaders created to subjugate and frustrate the South East and South South but with the COVID-19 pandemic they no longer want them around then and they are sending them down to the South and expect us to receive them.

“The South East governors should be aware of the fact that they are the chief security Officers of their respective states and they are also accountable to the people of Igbo land,” he warned
