Five Suspected Kidnappers Killed in Anambra, Delta Police Raids
In a coordinated operation targeting criminal hideouts, five suspected kidnappers were killed during police raids in Anambra and Delta states, according to Delta State Police spokesperson Bright Edafe. The raids, conducted by the Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team, focused on two forest locations known for harbouring kidnappers—one in Anambra and another in Issele-Asagba, Delta State.
Edafe reported that the operation led to a gun battle between police operatives and the suspects. Among those killed was Bello Abubakar, identified as a gang leader, along with four members of his group. Police recovered three AK-47 rifles and 140 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition from the scene.
The operation follows an earlier incident this month in which the Delta police arrested two individuals connected to the murder of Chigozie Udalor, a 38-year-old site engineer. Udalor was killed on December 10, 2024, in Akwukwu-Igbo, Oshimili North Local Government Area, by four workers he had hired from Benue State.
The Delta State Police Command continues its efforts to clamp down on kidnapping and violent crime across the region.
