Finally, NFF Accepts Finidi George’s Resignation as Super Eagles Coach
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) executive committee has officially accepted the resignation of Finidi George from his position as head coach of the Super Eagles.
Initially, the NFF had refused to accept Finidi’s resignation due to the absence of his signature on the letter. However, the situation has since been rectified, with the signed resignation now circulated among the executive members.
Finidi decided to step down following the NFF’s decision to appoint a foreign technical adviser to oversee the team. In his resignation letter addressed to NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, Finidi cited the restructuring of the Super Eagles’ technical crew as his reason for leaving. He expressed his decision to resign due to the changes, which included the appointment of several individuals handpicked by him.
The NFF has announced plans to appoint a new coach before the 2025 AFCON qualifiers commence in the first week of September. An official statement confirming Finidi’s resignation and outlining the next steps was anticipated after the Sallah holidays, as reported by ScoreNigeria.com.
