Final-Year Student Shot Dead During Sign-Out Celebration
A final-year student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho, Oyo State, was shot and killed during a sign-out event on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
The student, identified as Babalola Marvelous Ishola, was found dead by the roadside around 5:38 p.m. following a distress report about an unattended male body in the area.
Security operatives responded swiftly to the scene and were able to confirm Babalola’s identity through personal belongings found on him. The **Dean of Student Affairs** at LAUTECH also verified that he was a bonafide student of the institution.
Babalola’s body has since been deposited at the LAUTECH University Teaching Hospital morgue** for preservation.
In the wake of the tragic incident, the **Oyo State Police Command** launched an immediate sting operation through its Monitoring Unit, leading to the **arrest of sixteen suspects** allegedly connected to the shooting.
The police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
This devastating event has cast a shadow over what should have been a moment of celebration for the graduating students.
