Expressing the government’s stance, Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, emphasized that it is not in the best interest of the Federal Government for labour disruptions to persist.

Facing a 14-day ultimatum from organized labor regarding the prevailing hardship faced by Nigerians, Idris assured that the government remains committed to fulfilling its promises to the workforce.

Idris conveyed, “We appeal to labour to always see reason with the government. It is not in the government’s interest for labor to continue to go on strike. The government keeps its promises, and if there are concerns, they (NLC, TUC) can sit down with the government for an amicable resolution.”

He reiterated the government’s dedication to honoring agreements with the unions and urged labor representatives to engage in further discussions around any perceived issues in the existing agreements. The minister concluded by calling for a collaborative approach, emphasizing the importance of ongoing dialogue to address potential areas of contention.
