FG Outlines Conditions for Name, Next-of-Kin Changes by Civil Servants
The Federal Government has announced specific requirements for civil servants seeking to change their names, next-of-kin, gender, or migrate their salary details on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) platform.
This directive was contained in a circular issued by the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation on March 12, 2025. Addressed to all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), the memo emphasized the need for strict compliance with the new guidelines, citing repeated failures by civil servants to attach required documentation when requesting such changes.
According to the memo, the Office had observed that many MDAs fail to provide necessary documents when submitting requests for HR record modifications. This oversight has delayed the approval process, prompting the issuance of updated Standard Operating Procedures.
The circular referenced an earlier directive dated November 1, 2022, reiterating that no request for changes or corrections—including name, gender, next-of-kin, and salary migration—would be processed without the appropriate supporting documents.
The Office of the Head of Civil Service urged MDAs to ensure compliance and circulate the directive to all relevant personnel, warning that incomplete requests would not be considered for approval.
