FG Halts Sale of Subsidised 50kg Rice at N40,000 to Public Servants
The Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs has officially retracted its internal circular dated August 1, 2024, which announced the sale of subsidised 50kg rice to public servants.
Aderonke A. Jaiyesimi, Director of Human Resource Management, communicated the withdrawal of the directive in a new memo. The memo, which was distributed to all directors, department heads, and unit heads, instructs them to inform their staff accordingly.
The original circular had detailed a scheme where public servants were offered 50kg bags of rice at a subsidised rate of N40,000 each, aimed at mitigating the nation’s food crisis. Staff members were required to fill out a form on the OHCSF website to participate in the purchase, with distribution overseen by designated officials and monitored by the Chairman of the Joint Union Council of the Ministry.
