FG Declares March 31, April 1 Public Holidays
The Federal Government has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebration. The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government.
In his statement, Tunji-Ojo congratulated the Muslim community on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast. He encouraged all Muslims to uphold the values of self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace, stressing the importance of love, forgiveness, and solidarity in fostering a harmonious society.
The Minister, through a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, urged Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for peace, stability, and national prosperity. He expressed hope that the celebration would inspire unity and cooperation across religious and ethnic divides.
Tunji-Ojo also called on citizens to celebrate responsibly and extend kindness to the less privileged, in line with the true essence of Ramadan and Eid. On behalf of the government, he extended warm Eid Mubarak wishes to all Muslim faithful, praying that the blessings of the season bring joy, success, and fulfillment to all.
