Father Flees After Beating Teenage Son to Death in Lagos
The Lagos State police have launched an investigation into the tragic death of a 19-year-old boy, allegedly beaten to death by his father.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident on Thursday.
The incident was reported to the Alagbado Police Division on Tuesday, with the alleged crime occurring on July 5. According to Mr. Hundeyin, “At about 12.00 p.m., one Olumide inflicted a deep cut on his son, Adeyemi, using a shovel during what he described as moderate correction, over an undisclosed offence.”
The severe injury required immediate medical attention, and Adeyemi was initially rushed to a local hospital. Due to the severity of the injury, he was later transferred to the General Hospital Ikeja. Unfortunately, Adeyemi succumbed to a tetanus infection, as confirmed by the attending doctor.
Detectives from the division visited the scene following the report. However, the father, Olumide, has fled and remains at large. The police are actively investigating the case.
