Ex-Barcelona Midfielder Carles Perez Hospitalised After Dog Bite to Genitals
Former Barcelona midfielder Carles Perez has been hospitalised in Greece after suffering a painful injury to his genitals during a dog-walking incident in the Thessaloniki suburb of Thermi.
The 27-year-old, who recently joined Aris FC on loan from Celta Vigo, was reportedly trying to separate his dog from another when the attack occurred. He sustained a deep gash and was rushed to a private hospital in Panorama, where he received six stitches.
Aris FC confirmed the injury led to a soft tissue infection, ruling him out of Thursday’s UEFA Conference League qualifier against Araz-Nakhchivan.
Aris manager Marinos Ouzounidis, who had planned to start Perez in the match, acknowledged the setback but remained focused. “Carles would have been in the starting line-up,” he said. “This incident happened but we can’t dwell on it any longer. My mind is working on alternative solutions… I’m interested in the group of players that I will have at my disposal, to give the most they can.”
Perez is expected to return to the pitch once he has fully recovered from the unexpected and painful encounter.
