“EFCC Stopped Us from Giving VDM Food” – Friends of VeryDarkMan
Friends of Nigerian social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), have alleged that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) prevented them from delivering food to him following his reported arrest.
VDM’s legal counsel, activist-lawyer Deji Adeyanju, had earlier claimed that the influencer was taken into custody by EFCC operatives on Friday. The arrest has triggered widespread reactions online, with many questioning the role of a certain bank in what has been described by critics as a targeted clampdown.
In a video posted online, one of VDM’s close associates, Koko Pee, expressed frustration after being turned away by EFCC officials. According to him, they were informed that the Commission would handle VDM’s feeding.
“We are here at the EFCC headquarters, trying to take food and go and see VDM. The body that took the beating needs to eat,” Koko Pee said.
Shortly afterward, he shared another video stating, “There is a standing order for no one to see him or give him food until Monday,” after being denied access once again.
Efforts to reach EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report, as calls to official contact numbers went unanswered.
