EFCC Quizzes Ex-Minister Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye Over Alleged ₦138.4m Fraud
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday interrogated former Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, over allegations of misappropriation, procurement violations, and diversion of public funds amounting to ₦138.4 million. The alleged infractions occurred during the disbursement of the 2023 budget for the ministry.
Sources confirmed that Kennedy-Ohanenye arrived at the EFCC headquarters around 11 a.m. and faced questioning regarding her alleged role in the fraudulent activities. Investigators reportedly uncovered that funds earmarked for the P-Bat Cares for Women Initiative were diverted for personal gain.
As of Thursday evening, she had not been granted administrative bail, with sources indicating that the investigation remains active.
Kennedy-Ohanenye served as Minister of Women Affairs under President Bola Tinubu’s administration before being removed from office in October 2024. She was initially appointed to the role on August 21, 2023.
