EFCC Dismisses Two Staff Over Alleged Corruption

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed two of its staff members over allegations of corruption. This development was revealed by the Commission’s Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, during the 6th Annual Criminal Law Review Conference organized by the Rule of Law Development Foundation in Abuja.

According to Olukoyede, the dismissals occurred two weeks ago as part of ongoing reforms within the Commission. He emphasized that staff found guilty of corruption would not only face dismissal but also prosecution. “You can’t be fighting corruption and have your hands dirty. He who comes to equity must have clean hands,” he remarked.

Olukoyede further disclosed that preparations are underway to prosecute the dismissed staff, stating that the EFCC is committed to maintaining integrity within its ranks. “We are preparing the case files of some of the people we have dismissed,” he added.

Recounting his own experience, the EFCC boss noted that he was subjected to a two-year investigation during his tenure as EFCC secretary. He underscored the importance of integrity for those working in legal and anti-corruption fields. Additionally, Olukoyede announced a directive limiting prosecutions by the EFCC to a maximum of 15-count charges.
