#EdoDecides2024: PDP Candidate Asue Ighodalo Dominates Polling Unit as Labour Party Scores Zero Votes
In the Edo State governorship election held on Saturday, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, secured a decisive victory at his polling unit in Ewohimi Community. Ighodalo, who is vying to succeed outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki, received overwhelming support from voters in his hometown.
At Polling Unit 003, Ighodalo garnered 200 votes out of the 246 cast, leaving his main opponent, Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with just 45 votes. Notably, the Labour Party and other participating parties failed to secure a single vote at the polling unit.
The voter turnout, however, was relatively low. Out of 979 registered voters, only 246 showed up for accreditation, reflecting the subdued participation in the electoral process. The election proceeded under tight security, ensuring a peaceful atmosphere in the area.
