EdoDecides2024: INEC Reports 98.58% Results Uploaded on IReV
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has successfully uploaded 98.58% of the results from the Edo governorship election to its Results Viewing Portal (IReV). As of 8:40 AM on Sunday, results from 4,455 out of 4,519 polling units have been recorded.
In Edo State, there are 2,629,025 registered voters, with 2,249,780 (85.57%) having collected their Permanent Voters’ Cards. Candidates vying for the governorship include Senator Monday Okpebholo from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asue Ighodalo from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Olumide Akpata from the Labour Party.
The victor will succeed Governor Godwin Obaseki, who is set to leave office on November 11 after two terms.
During an interview with Arise Television, Edo State’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, Anugbum Onuoha, reassured the public about the electronic transmission of results. He stated, “We have trained the operators for the BVAS, and they are set to ensure a smooth process, barring any network issues.”
