#EdoDecides2024: Aggrieved Candidates Should Go to Court, Tinubu Advises

President Bola Tinubu has advised candidates dissatisfied with the results to pursue their grievances through the courts. This statement follows the announcement that Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious, as confirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday.

Tinubu congratulated Okpebholo for his win, highlighting the support for the APC and its commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians. “The President urges all aggrieved candidates to seek redress through legal channels,” said Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.

He commended the efforts of APC leaders, Edo party officials, and governors for their roles in the election outcome, emphasizing that this victory reflects the people’s endorsement of the party’s progressive ideals.

Tinubu encouraged Okpebholo to view his win as a call to service, urging him to reach out to political rivals to foster unity and development within the state. He also recognized other candidates for their contributions to Nigeria’s democracy, affirming that such peaceful contests signify a stable political environment.

Additionally, Tinubu praised the people of Edo for their orderly conduct during the election and commended INEC and security agencies for ensuring a successful and peaceful electoral process. He reaffirmed INEC’s commitment to organizing free and fair elections in Nigeria.
