Edo State Postpones School Resumption Indefinitely Due to Fuel Price Hike

The Edo State Government has indefinitely postponed the resumption of all public and private schools across the state, citing the recent fuel price hike as the primary reason.

In a memo released on Saturday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Ojo Akin-Longe, the government confirmed that the scheduled resumption for Monday, September 9, 2024, has been pushed back until further notice.

“The Edo State Government hereby announces the postponement of the resumption of all public and private schools in Edo State, originally scheduled for Monday, September 9, 2024, until further notice,” the statement reads.

The government explained that the decision was made in response to rising tensions and challenges faced by parents and guardians as a result of the sharp increase in fuel prices. The statement also advised parents and caregivers to keep a close eye on their children during this period of uncertainty.

The fuel price hike has generated widespread concern across the state, impacting daily transportation and living costs for many residents.
