Edo Election: INEC Officials Absent at PDP Candidate Asue Ighodalo’s Polling Unit

 

 

The ongoing governorship election in Edo State has been marred by the absence of officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the polling unit of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo. Ighodalo, one of 17 candidates contesting for the governorship seat, hails from the Idinrio community in Ewohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area.

 

As voters awaited the arrival of INEC personnel, the usually bustling Idinrio community remained eerily quiet, with no sign of election activity. Journalists on the ground reported that both ad-hoc and permanent INEC staff were nowhere to be seen, raising concerns among local residents and party supporters.

 

The governorship election is being held to determine the successor to the incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki. However, delays in the arrival of electoral officials could affect voter turnout and the smooth conduct of the election in parts of the state.
