Edo Assembly Summons Natasha Osawaru Over Viral Video
The Edo State House of Assembly has summoned the member representing Egor Constituency, Natasha Irobosa Osawaru, directing her to appear before its Ethics and Privileges Committee within one week over a viral video involving her and her husband.
During Tuesday’s plenary, the Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, said the footage — which showed Osawaru in a heated exchange with her husband, music star Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba — had brought undesired public attention to the legislature.
The video, reportedly recorded in a London shop, captured Osawaru shouting, “Don’t do it. Don’t do that! Na everyday you go dey shout for me? Wetin dey happen? Why are you raising your voice at me?”
Agbebaku noted that the lawmaker had been trending for the wrong reasons across television and social media platforms for days, a situation he described as embarrassing to the Assembly.
He stressed that the House prides itself on being disciplined, credible, and composed of committed members, adding that no single lawmaker’s conduct should tarnish its reputation.
The Speaker directed Osawaru to appear before the committee to explain her actions and address concerns that her conduct has allegedly brought the Assembly into disrepute.
