Ebonyi Governor Nwifuru sacks appointees, dethrones monarchs after Afikpo attack
Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has ordered the immediate removal of political appointees and community leaders in Amasiri, Afikpo Local Government Area, following a deadly attack in Edda LGA.
Those affected include commissioners, management committee members, traditional rulers, town union executives, and village heads. The governor also withdrew the certificates of recognition of the affected monarchs, effectively dethroning them.
The decision was announced on Saturday during Nwifuru’s visit to Okporojo community in Osso Edda, where at least four people were killed in an attack on Thursday.
In a video circulating online and obtained by SK Blog, residents of Okporojo alleged that individuals from Amasiri in Afikpo LGA invaded their community, destroying houses and property.
The governor reportedly cut short an official engagement in Abuja and returned to Ebonyi, proceeding directly from the airport to Okporojo for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation.
