DSS Arrests Three for Assaulting Officers During Lagos Assembly ‘Invasion’

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested three individuals for assaulting its officers during the crisis at the Lagos State House of Assembly on February 17. According to sources, lawmakers had mobilized supporters to the Assembly Complex, where some of them attacked DSS officers who had been invited by the Assembly leadership to secure the premises.

After reviewing CCTV footage, the DSS identified three suspects involved in the attack. Those arrested include Ibrahim Olanrewaju Abdulkareem, a photographer, along with Adetu Adekunle Samsudeen and Adetola Oluwatosin Fatimoh, who are both attached to the Assembly’s Sergeant-at-Arms. The suspects were tracked and apprehended at various locations in Lagos during the week.

The DSS confirmed that the arrested individuals have confessed to their involvement in the assault and will be charged in court soon.

The incident follows a leaked memo dated February 14, 2025, from the Lagos Assembly to the DSS Director and heads of other security agencies. The memo warned of a potential security threat, alleging that the ousted Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, planned to forcefully reinstate himself on February 18, 2025.
