DSS Arrests 23-Year-Old Woman Over Alleged Suicide Threats Amidst Kano State Election Dispute

The Department of State Security (DSS) has taken into custody a 23-year-old woman identified as Fildausi Ahamadu, following her alleged threats of committing suicide while targeting individuals she held responsible for the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, at the election petitions tribunal in Kano State.

According to an undisclosed but credible source within the DSS, the arrest of Fildausi Ahamadu was confirmed on Tuesday. The young woman had gained notoriety after a viral video circulated in the city where she professed to be fighting for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and their governorship candidate, Abba Yusuf.

In the viral clip, which was conducted in the Hausa language, Fildausi could be heard verbally attacking the presiding judge of the tribunal, ominously warning that she would not hesitate to resort to self-destructive measures if she encountered the judge. She ominously stated, “Anywhere I find [the judge], I won’t hesitate to hold her with a bomb and commit suicide.”

Furthermore, the woman directed her threats towards Nasiru Gawuna, cautioning him, “You better not reveal your whereabouts, or else I won’t hesitate to wear a bomb vest and commit suicide.”

The video clip did not spare Vice President Kashim Shettima either, as Fildausi hurled derogatory remarks at him and accused him of orchestrating the legal challenges faced by the NNPP in Kano State.

The source disclosed that security operatives are actively pursuing the case, with plans to bring Fildausi Ahamadu before a court of law. “We are indeed taking Fildausi Musa Ahamadu to court because these threats should not be taken lightly,” emphasized the anonymous source.

The arrest of Fildausi Ahamadu has raised concerns about the impact of political tensions on individuals’ mental health and the need for a peaceful and constructive resolution to election-related disputes in Nigeria.
