DON’T FORCE ANY ACT OF STATESMANSHIP ON ATIKU PLEASE! LET HIM SULK IN ‘PEACE’ – Samuel O. Ajayi

I am terribly disappointed at those who are calling on Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to call General Mohammadu Buhari and congratulate him. Why should he do that for Christ’s sake? Why?

I just don’t understand why they are forcing an act “statesmanship” on Atiku towards a man who NEVER showed same all the time he lost elections.

Hate me. Call me names. Insult me. Call me PDP supporter. That is your father’s funeral. But till I die, I will tell you: BUHARI DID NOT WIN ELECTION HELD ON FEBRUARY 23, 2019!

This is the unfortunate and inconvenient reality many want us to gloss over.

On Sunday afternoon, I called an editor friend (not of any THISDAY title) and he told me that going by reports being filed in for the last 24 hours before then, Atiku was comfortably leading. A senior friend who has insider in INEC said going by yet to be tabulated results they had gotten, this guy had practically won.

In fact, the Yobe and Sokoto results showed how stupid those who changed the results were.

I wrote earlier in the day that it would be suicidal for Atiku to think of parallel government. If he wants to approach the court, good luck to him. But those asking him to call Buhari and congratulate him are BLOODY HYPOCRITES.

Now check these:

* In 2003, did Buhari congratulate Obasanjo even when his influence didn’t go beyond his local government in Katsina State? But he was expecting to win a national election.

* In 2007, did you ask him to congratulate Yar’Adua even when it was obvious that he lost?

* In 2011, his pronouncements and unguarded statements before the election contributed to violence that claimed almost 2000 lives including ELEVEN youth corps members. Till today, Buhari never condemned the violence nor called Jonathan to congratulate him.

In fact, out of anger at these elections, Buhari never attended any Council of State meeting until 2014 when he wanted to contest again and he now had a national platform called APC.

If you lost a soccer match that you felt you were robbed, no one can force you to congratulate the winner even if you won’t complain.

We are all human beings with emotions. Let this man sulk in silence and gnash his teeth from an undeserved defeat.

But you should not force on him what many of you will NEVER take.

Excuse me…

Samuel O. Ajayi
