Chairman of the Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Engr. Adedeji Doherty, has commiserated with the deputy governorship candidate of the party for the 2023 general election, Ms. Funke Akindele, on the death of her mother.
The late Dr. R. B. Adebanjo-Akindele died on Tuesday.
She was the mother of popular Nollywood thespian, Funke Akindele who’s famously known in her long-running television series as Suliat, and the running mate to Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran a.k.a as Jandor who is the candidate of the Lagos PDP for the 2023 governorship election holding on March 11.
In a condolence message e-signed on his behalf by Mr Muka Popoola, the head of DD Media Team, Engr Doherty says that his hearts are with the family of the theatre cum political icon of the Lagos PDP, Funke Akindele, in this her moment of grief.
Doherty said that given all the great values that the deceased represented in the life of Funke, it can be imagined the depth of pains in her heart for her to lose someone who impacted so much in her to be the great woman that she has become today in her life.
The immediate past State Chairman and Convener of Unity Freedom Group (UFG) in the Lagos PDP said as God who giveth also taketh, the bereaved female politician to take solace in the fact that her cherished mom lived a purposeful life while she was alive.
Praying for the peaceful repose of the souls of Dr. Adebanjo-Akindele, Doherty says that Funke Akindele should feel assured that the entire PDP family are with her, even as he adds that both the Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and Lagos governorship candidate, Dr. Adediran are seriously grief-striken over the loss.
Doherty said although the unfortunate demise of Funke Akindele’s mom will give the Lagos PDP a temporary setback in its ongoing campaigns for the 2023 elections, he was sure that what would gladden the hearts of the deceased in her death will be to look back and see the Lagos PDP win massively in the 2023 elections and take over the government from the All Progressives Congress (APC) that has inflicted so much excruciating pains on the citizens.
He prayed God to grant the families of Adebanjo-Akindele the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss of the their loved one.
