“Disband Anambra Security Outfit, Recruit Fresh, Drug-Tested Operatives” – Ohanaeze Youth Faction Tells Soludo

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing faction has called for the immediate disbandment of the Anambra State security outfit, Udo Ga-Achi, following nationwide outrage over the assault of a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Jennifer Elobor. Viral footage had shown armed operatives of the outfit assaulting and stripping Elobor naked, sparking condemnation across the country.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the faction led by its self-acclaimed President General, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, described the actions of the operatives as inhumane and a reflection of a deeper problem within the organization. Okwu alleged that the outfit had a history of rights violations, including brutalising innocent citizens and engaging in acts of jungle justice. He said human rights groups had long raised concerns about such abuses without any response from the authorities.

“This unfortunate case has exposed what many residents have endured in silence. It is one of many atrocities committed by these operatives,” Okwu stated. He urged Governor Chukwuma Soludo to disband the group immediately and initiate a fresh recruitment process that would include mandatory drug testing and proper training for new operatives.

The youth leader also demanded an open trial of those involved in the assault, stressing that no one should be shielded from justice. He further called on the state government to provide adequate compensation to the victim, insisting that accountability was the only way to restore public confidence in Anambra’s security system.
