Dickson’s Anointed Candidate, Diri Wins Bayelsa PDP Primary Election

The anointed candidate of the Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson, Senator Douye Diri of the Restoration Camp has won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election in the state.

Diri who represents Bayelsa Central senatorial district in the National Assembly polled 561 votes to beat twenty other aspirants that contested the election.

According to the results announced by the chairman of the electoral panel and the governor of Taraba state, Darius Ishaku, a former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Timi Alaibe came second with 365 votes.

Other results include Keniebi Okoko 142 votes, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John-Jonah (rtd), 62 votes, Benson Kombowei polled 24 votes, Arc Reuben Okoya 19 votes, Kombowe Benson 24 votes, Ayawe Nimibofa 7 votes and Joshua Maciver scored 7 votes, Kemela Okara 4 votes, Etolor Robinson 4 votes, Franklin Osaisai 4 votes, Bolade Igali 4 votes, Benson Agadaga 3 votes, Talford Ongolo 3 votes, Kiyaramo Johnson 3 votes, Alagoa David 3 votes and Igiri Tobin scored 2 votes. 1,237 accredited delegates participated in the primaries out which 16 votes were declared invalid.
