Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday, called on leaders at all levels to embrace a form of democracy that creates prosperity rather than one that makes the people suffer.
The former president made the call while speaking at the inauguration of the reconstructed 34.85km Oyo-Iseyin road in Oyo state.
The former president emphasised that a form of democracy that nurtures poverty, insecurity and unemployment, and allows the people enjoy the dividend of democracy must be thrown away.
While urging Oyo State to invest in agriculture for food sustainability, he said the state must focus on the cultivation of some certain crops that will stand them out among other states across the nation.
Earlier in his address, governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, revealed that the construction of the road and other road projects in the state is in line with his administration’s plan to connect all the five zones in the state as well as curb rural urban migration.
He revealed that his administration would subsequently complete other road projects in the state, including all internal roads across the state.
