Delta State Governor’s Aide on Protocol Dies After Collapsing at Event

Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, has reacted to the death of his Senior Special Assistant on Protocol, Sunday Kotor, describing the incident as a significant loss to the state administration.

Kotor reportedly collapsed on Friday evening, March 20, at a private event. He was taken to a medical facility shortly after but was confirmed dead despite efforts to revive him.

In a statement released through the Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, the governor acknowledged Kotor’s service and role within the government. He noted that the late aide carried out his responsibilities with consistency and commitment, adding that his death affects both the administration and his immediate family.

The governor extended condolences to members of Kotor’s family, including his brother, Conference Kotor, who also works within the state government.

Sunday Kotor was a familiar figure at Government House in Asaba, where he handled protocol duties and coordinated official events. He also served as a Master of Ceremonies at state functions under previous administrations, including those led by Emmanuel Uduaghan and Ifeanyi Okowa.

He held a degree in Mass Communication from Delta State University, Abraka and originated from Okwagbe in Ughelli South Local Government Area.

Colleagues and associates within the government have continued to express grief over his death, describing him as an active member of the protocol team whose presence was closely tied to the coordination of state events.
