Deji Adeyanju Reveals Cause of Rift Between Gov. Fubara and Wike

 

 

Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has revealed that the rift between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara is largely fueled by the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). According to Adeyanju, while Wike declared N11 billion in IGR during his tenure as governor, Fubara is now reporting a significantly higher N27 billion, sparking tensions between the two.

 

Adeyanju made this statement during an appearance on the podcast The Honest Bunch by Glitch Africa Studio. He further criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing it as a political party and accusing the organization of aligning itself with the All Progressives Congress (APC). He claimed, “If you give INEC water, they will turn it into wine. There is nothing INEC can’t do; what INEC can’t do does not exist.”

 

In his comments, Adeyanju stressed that the power struggle between Wike and Fubara is not surprising, given the dramatic difference in their reported IGR figures, with Wike’s N11 billion now dwarfed by Fubara’s N27 billion.
