Defence Ministry Hands Over 20 Armoured Personnel Carriers to Boost Troop Capabilities

In a move to bolster the professional capabilities of the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defence has delivered 20 brand-new Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to the Defence Headquarters. This significant development was announced by Dr. Ibrahim Kana, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, during a ceremony in Abuja on Thursday.

The APCs were formally handed over to Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, by the Permanent Secretary, marking a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to fortify its national defence capabilities.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Kana emphasized the importance of the delivery, stating that it signifies a strategic step towards enhancing the nation’s defence capabilities to effectively tackle emerging security challenges. He highlighted the crucial role the APCs will play in providing troops with enhanced protection and mobility, thereby enabling them to carry out their duties more effectively in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty.

Gen. Christopher Musa echoed similar sentiments, stressing the strategic significance of equipping the Armed Forces with the necessary resources to respond swiftly and decisively to security threats. He commended the Ministry of Defence for its dedication to strengthening national defence capabilities and expressed gratitude for the acquisition of the APCs.

The acquisition of these 20 Armoured Personnel Carriers marks a substantial enhancement in the operational readiness of the Nigerian Armed Forces, empowering them to confront the challenges of the modern security landscape and uphold peace and stability across the nation.

The ceremony was attended by other key figures, including the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Maj.-Gen. Emmanuel Undiandeye.
