Deadly Attack by Armed Herdsmen Claims Seven Lives, Including Pregnant Woman, in Plateau Communities

At least seven individuals, including a pregnant woman, fell victim to a violent assault allegedly perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen in Plateau State. The devastating incident unfolded on Monday night, leaving a trail of grief and sorrow in its wake.

Reports indicate that the assailants targeted rural communities, with three victims hailing from Tangur 1 village in the Bokkos Local Government Area. The armed herdsmen unleashed terror around 9:30 pm, claiming the lives of a man, a young boy, and a pregnant woman. Despite the valiant efforts of the military to repel the attackers, the brutality persisted, resulting in further casualties.

Tragically, the violence extended to Butura Gida village, where four men serving as vigilantes fell victim to the assailants around 1 am on Tuesday. The exact connection between these attacks remains unclear, as investigations into the incidents continue.

Alfred Alabo, the Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), has yet to issue a statement regarding the harrowing events. However, this latest atrocity underscores the disturbing trend of violence plaguing Plateau State, once celebrated as the “Home of Peace and Tourism.”

This grim episode follows a series of deadly attacks earlier in the year, which claimed the lives of numerous individuals. The escalating violence has shattered the tranquility of the region, leaving communities in mourning and authorities grappling with the persistent threat of bloodshed.

Plateau State, once renowned for its scenic beauty and cultural richness, now finds itself ensnared in a cycle of violence, with innocent lives hanging in the balance amidst the turmoil.
