Deadly Ambush on Borno-Yobe Road Claims Lives of Army Lieutenant, Six Others

A tragic ambush by Boko Haram insurgents has resulted in the loss of seven lives, including an Army Lieutenant, along the Biu-Buratai-Buni Yadi road, linking Borno and Yobe states.

The incident, which occurred on Thursday evening, adds to the grim toll of attacks on this vital route, which has seen a surge in violence in recent times.

According to reliable sources, the attack targeted a military convoy, claiming the lives of the Lieutenant, a driver, gunner, and four other soldiers. Unconfirmed reports suggest that a significant number of the assailants were also killed during a firefight near Kamuya village, close to Buratai.

Confirming the incident, a security source stated, “Soldiers of 135 Special Force BN FOB in Buratai were ambushed by terrorists while en route to Damaturu, the Yobe state capital, for fuel procurement. Unfortunately, one officer, a driver, gunner, and four escorts were fatally wounded in the attack.”
