Dangote Refinery Seeks Government Nod to Release Diesel and Aviation Fuel into Domestic Market
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has confirmed its request for approval from the Nigerian Government to introduce diesel and other petroleum products into the domestic market.
The company, which officially began production at its 650,000 barrels per day refinery last Friday, expressed its eagerness to supply diesel and aviation fuel to the market pending approval from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA). This regulatory body oversees and regulates midstream and downstream petroleum operations in Nigeria.
“We have initiated the production of diesel and aviation fuel, and these products are poised to hit the market within this month, subject to regulatory approvals,” stated the company in its weekend announcement.
Industry observers are keenly monitoring the development, anticipating the potential impact of Dangote Refinery’s entry into the market on the availability and pricing of these crucial petroleum products in Nigeria.
